Shoe! Glorious Shoes! Well, I am most excited about shoes this season, which is why I am posting my shoe capsule wardrobe before my clothing and handbags this holiday season. Can you blame me? Shoes are glorious!

This holiday season, life is more casual and quiet and than in holiday seasons past. This means I am looking more for utility rather than sparkle in my holidays 2020 shoe capsule wardrobe. These block heel booties are perfect to pair with jeans. They are comfortable for walking plus they have a little bit of lift to make me a couple inches taller. They really add polish to an everyday look. Love!

Lug soles are hotter than hot this season, and while I thought I might avoid the trend since I already own a couple pairs of lug soles boots, I couldn’t help myself. After all, I didn’t have a flat pair; only heels. So of course, I felt the need to add a flat pair to my closet! This pair of lug sole boots is super comfortable for walking and standing, plus, they are waterproof! They will be perfect once our rainy season starts. I tried to clean them up as much as possible for these photos, but my apologies, they have been getting quite a bit of wear and are showing it. They are my go-to boots right now!

cozy slippers holiday gift ideas

My grey stamped croc loafers have been in my capsule wardrobe since fall, and they are great for warmer days. If you haven’t jumped on the classic loafer trend yet, I highly recommend snapping up a pair. They come in tons of colors, and never go out of style! Love that!

‘Tis the season for cozy and soft slippers. I cannot get enough of these fabulous slippers. They are super cozy and soft. They would also make a great gift for the holidays! Love that they are priced under $75.

These square toe heels are on trend and a must-have for any capsule shoe wardrobe. Fingers crossed I have somewhere to wear them this season! They are very comfortable, but with all of our lockdowns, heels haven’t been something I have needed to wear. When we get our vaccines, I will find a lot of excuses to wear high heels! Just wait! haha

Lastly, we all need one pair of fabulous sneakers for walking and everyday wear. As you may have noticed, these have been in my seasonal capsule wardrobes for the last couple of years. They are high quality and super comfortable. If you are looking for a great investment, these are it!

San Jose Art Walk Tour

Standing in front of the “Veteran’s Memorial of San Jose” and next to “Untitled” by Kenneth Matsumoto.

wearing: hoop earrings / grey scarf / charcoal cardigan (super soft!) / black long sleeve tee / black belt with snake buckle / holiday nail polish / black handbag / destroyed jeans (under $40) / Gucci platform sneakers /

I love finding local, cultural activities to explore and show my kids. When I heard about the San Jose Art Walk in downtown San Jose, I was excited to learn it was both an opportunity to walk around and get fresh air, as well as explore outdoor art.

The San Jose Art Walk is a public art tour of over forty different art pieces. There is a combination of murals, statues, and more! When I first looked at the map, I thought it would be a one day activity. I was wrong! There is a lot to explore; making this is a great multi-day activity.

There are a few installations which are best seen after dark. We all hopped into the car one evening and following the map, we explored LED light art installations around downtown San Jose. It was really interesting! I don’t have photos to share because we were in the car and I was driving. You will just have to explore the light installations yourself!

The second time we went downtown to explore the art walk, we parked near the Discovery Museum and walked throughout that portion of downtown, up to Cesar Chavez Plaza. This took roughly an hour and a half. We were able to see roughly 25% of the tour. We will definitely have to head back down to see the other portions of the art walk we missed!

Each art installation has a placard which describes the piece in more detail than you find on the map. It’s fun to follow the map, and look for each piece. In some cases, it feels like a scavenger hunt as you try to find an installation hidden in a courtyard, or behind a building. It’s a fun activity with the kids!

If you are local to the Bay Area, or you are visiting, this is a fun and free activity you can do! You can be ambitious, and try to see the entire art walk in one day, or you can break it up into different days like we are doing. Either way, it’s a great way to enjoy outdoor art while getting some exercise.

Here is a link to the San Jose Art Walk map-if you can print it out before you go, I highly recommend doing so! SanJoseca.gov.

Fringe sweater vest and a pop of pink

fall outfit ideassan jose street stylefringe vest fall 2020 holidays winter

wearing: antique gold hoop earrings / pink scarf (under $100) / black long sleeve tee / black snake buckle belt / black fringe sweater vest / destroyed jeans (under $50) / black handbag / holiday nail polish / antique gold chain bracelet (fits small) / black block heel boots (under $200) /

The weather is finally cooling off, so I pulled out this fringe vest, and this light pink scarf, which are part of my upcoming holiday capsule wardrobe; and I wore them out! I will call this my fall into the holidays look. That works, right?? haha

For the upcoming holiday season, I am more in the mood to rock berry hues with warm clothing, rather my usual red and green Christmas color palette. While Christmas is still the main event for me, I am in a pink, red, and purple mood this year. You will see the vibe when my holiday capsule wardrobe goes live later this week! It is a little delayed this year since I am still waiting for a few pieces to arrive that I ordered over two weeks ago. Apparently the one package I am waiting for, is the only package I have had delayed this year. Go figure!

This fringe sweater vest will be really fun this holiday season. It can be worn over any color long sleeve tee. I plan to wear it mostly with the two tee’s that have not arrived yet, they are burgundy and pink. For Christmas, I can wear it over my red long sleeve tee from last year, and pair it with green earrings. This fringe sweater vest is just the right weight to keep me warm, without being too hot. It’s great to wear indoors or outdoors. I am in love! You will see me in this vest a lot the next couple months!

I wore this fall into the holiday season outfit last week to Valley Fair Mall. Don’t worry, I wore a mask. I only popped it off for the photos while we were outside, and not around any other people.
