In case you noticed, my fall capsule wardrobe is trimmed down this season. This is due to the fact that I lost close to thirty pounds since April. Yes, you read that correctly! I have lost exactly twenty-eight pounds since April.

My weight has been creeping up over the last several years, and my doctor finally read me the riot act. She put me on a diet! I am glad she did, because I am back to my normal weight, and my older clothing fits! That being said, the clothing pieces you have seen me wear over the past few years are all way too big on me now.

My hope in moving towards capsule wardrobes each season was to reduce my purchases, and have a more sustainable closet. In keeping with this spirit, my fall capsule wardrobe is small this season because I am starting over! I have had to purchase new jeans and tee’s which fit me. So the next couple seasons, I will be re-building my wardrobe; little by little! The clothing that is too big now, I am donating to charity.

So, in order to start over, I purchased these dark wash denim jeans earlier this month, as well as these black jeans for the cool weather season. They are perfect for the fall season, and will also work well into the holiday and winter seasons.

I love fashionable tee’s! My fabulous, puff sleeve tee’s from the last few seasons are way too big now; I look like I am swimming in them. Therefore, I need to re-build my tee wardrobe. I am starting with this beige, puff sleeve tee which is ideal for fall, and also this long sleeve black tee since it is basic, and will carry me through fall, winter, and the holiday season.

What if I need to dress up? Ah! My dresses are huge, so if I need a dress, I will buy one when the time comes. In the meantime, this pleated green skirt, with an asymmetrical hemline, is perfect for the fall and holiday seasons. I love the movement it offers and the emerald green hue. I hope to pick up another top to wear with it this season, but in the meantime, I will wear this puff sleeve black top, and a pair of heels.

Oversize, chunky cardigan sweaters are hotter than hot this fall season, so this neutral hued cardigan will be perfect for keeping me cozy during the cooler months. Love it!

Fall shoes are flying off store shelves this week! If you haven’t snapped up a pair of classic sneakers, or lug sole loafers, what are you waiting for? Classic IT bags which can be worn on a daily basis are also hot on the streets. This fall, it looks like fashionistas are gravitating towards classic and practical IT items which can be worn often. This season is not about the one-time-wear ensemble, or pair of stilettos. It is all about investment dressing and comfort. Love it!

Investment dressing and comfort; isn’t that what California Casual is all about? That’s how we love to dress here in Silicon Valley. We look for comfortable clothing which is also occasion-appropriate. Clothing and accessories which can be worn often, yet still have an IT factor, is what we all love. Loving that the fall 2021 season encompasses these values in a wardrobe.

The fall 2021 shoe trends this year should come as no surprise. We are seeing a huge continuation of ’90’s inspired footwear including lug soles, block heels, loafers, and metal bits. Grunge and post-grunge footwear is hotter than hot season, so if you saved anything from that era, you’re in luck! If you are like me, and you did not, check your closet for these styles from last year or the year before. After you shop your closet, shop the stores to fill in what you need for the season! I recommend having, at a minimum, one pair of lug sole boots, and one pair of loafers with a bit and some sort of heel.

In addition to ’90’s vibes, street sneakers are continuing to be the ultimate go-to shoe for everyday life; and they are proving to be a status symbol beyond just limited edition drop shoes. Any sneakers you find with designer logos are hot this season. Owning a pair of designer sneakers, in any style, is fabulous this fall season. Also look for adidas “Stan Smith” sneakers. This iconic style is already the hottest sneaker style of the fall 2021 shopping season; and they happen to be under $100 per pair. I am investing in two pairs from adidas.

These are really the two main types of shoe styles we all need for the fall 2021 season. Also keep in mind neutral hues are important colors for footwear this fall. Your boots and loafers should be black or a shade of brown. Stay away from bright hues on your leather shoes. Save the bright colors for apparel.

When it comes to sneakers, any color goes! While white with a colored heel are the hottest style of the season, any color which catches your eye is on trend for autumn. Have fun with your sneakers! Snap up a pair of adidas Stan Smith sneakers, and then add a sneaker style from your favorite designer. Your feet will be very happy and comfortable this fall 2021 season! Love!

Also, pay attention to the details. Square toes are still trending, as well as sculpted heels, block heels, lug soles, chunky soles, and metal details such as chains, bits, and studs.
