I’m wearing bright pink! The Barbiecore trend is so much fun, and I love that this trend is so easy to wear and integrate into anyone’s personal style. Some people who love a bold look can rock bright pink in an all-over, tonal look. Others, like myself, who just want a touch of pink, can rock this trend with one article of clothing, or even with accessories such as earrings, a bracelet, or a scarf. Love it!

This blazer is really fun. I love the tweed fabric and the bright hue. It is easy to throw over jeans, a skirt, or a dress for a polished, Barbiecore look. Love that!

One of the color combo’s a few designers played with for fall was adding purple touches to pink. Yes, the pink and purple combo we all wore in the 1980s, it might catch on again! So, I paired my pink blazer with purple earrings just to have a touch of my favorite childhood color combo. Seriously, I think my whole closet was pink and purple back in the day! haha

Since I was in a fun mood, I paired my pink blazer with my golden boots. Aren’t they a kick! This pair is actually quite comfortable, and I was able to walk in them as strolled through San Jose’s Japantown and enjoyed lunch at Minato. If you haven’t been, it is an old, established restaurant that has been in San Jose for decades. They have delicious entrees with very generous portions. I had a tone of leftovers! The food is really good, and the service is exceptional. If you haven’t been yet, you need to go now!

I enjoyed the tempura lunch and my mom had a steamer bowl. They were both sooooo good!! Both dishes are delicious, in case you are wondering what to order.

Spring 2023 trends from NYFW

The last model has walked off the New York Fashion Week runway for the spring/summer 2023 season, and we are left with inspiration for the new year.

New York designers favored two distinct color palettes for the spring 2023 season. We are seeing bright hues, and also mixed neutrals; which are reminiscent of 1970s fashion.

Speaking of 1970s inspiration, the decades of influence from New York for the spring season were heavy on the 1970s, and also mixed in with 1960s vibes, and some 1990s and early 2000s trends. Think the return of Jellies and swamp foot. Yikes!

The handbag trends from NYFW for spring 2023 include the return of the doctor bag, slouchy and large bags, jelly bags, and the continuation of the hobo bag, moon shaped bag, small bags with structure, and structured clutches.

For fashion, we are seeing asymmetric necklines and hemlines, maxi skirts and dresses, 1960s mini dresses and skirts, more puff sleeves, off-the-shoulder and one-shoulder necklines, pencil skirts, blazers, all-white looks, cut-outs, and wait for it-it’s very groundbreaking-florals!!!

The overall vibe for spring 2023 is a return to dressing up. Look for less loungewear, and more dressy styles. While street sneakers are still hot, they are paired with pants and a blazer instead of a track suit. The rule of this thumb this spring; comb your hair and tuck in your shirt, there is no room for being sloppy.

The weather is finally cooling off, let’s hope it stays that way! As we move into the fall season, blazers over jeans, and cozy sweaters are starting to move to the front of our closets. I love this sweater coat pictured above, it is so cozy and chic! I also love a good tweed blazer; and this pink one, as well as this black one, are perfect for fall. The pink one is a fun color which fits into the “Barbiecore” trend, and the black one is classic and chic. Love both moods!

The spring 2023 runways in New York just finished, and they left us with a few trends to think about. As we invest in our fall wardrobes, it is important to think about which pieces will be more than a one-season-wonder. Thankfully we are seeing 1970s influences into next year, so looking at wide leg pants, flares, shades of brown, bright hues, hobo bags, blazers, power suits, street sneakers, and a return to dressing up are all great vibes from fall we can look forward to in the upcoming spring 2023 season too. Love!
