How to get the Dolce & Gabbana beauty look from the fall 2013 runway at home

Dolce & Gabbana sent their fall/winter 2013/2014 collection down the Milan Fashion Week runway on February 24, 2013 and gave Fashionistas everywhere something to covet for the upcoming cool weather season. The designing duo took their inspiration from the mosaic of Monreale which was brought to life by Creative Advisor Pat McGrath.

To create the perfect beauty look which complimented the apparel and accessories on the runway, Pat McGrath combined nude tones with dark, provocative accents which resulted in a stunning beauty look for Dolce & Gabbana’s collection.

Here is how to get the look:

The Face

Flawless Base: Apply a mixture of Perfect Luminous and Perfect Matte Liquid Foundations using a softFoundation Brush. Use a small amount of both foundations and apply to the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Blend from the central point of the face outward until the foundations are blended seamlessly from the hairline to the jaw.

Conceal: To seal the flawless base, use the Perfect Matte Concealer which will add extra coverage and achieve an illuminated, natural look.

Perfect it!: To finish the face, apply Powder Foundation focusing on the forehead.

The Eyes:

Eye shadow: Start with applying Dolce & Gabbana eye shadow in Desert.

Line the eyes: Line the eyes with Black eyeliner for a deep, mysterious look. For the runway, more depth was added to the eyes with the application of Black Intense glam liner on top of the lash line.

Eyelashes: For the full eyelash look on the runway, use two layers of Intense Eyes mascara

Lips:

To recreate the lips from the Dolce & Gabbana runway, start with the lipliner in Ruby and them combine both the Ultra and Amethyst lipsticks for the perfect, sophisticated “straight-from-the-Milan-runway” look.

Nails:

Dolce & Gabbana showed neutral nails on the Milan Fashion Week runway for fall 2013 with the use of theirNude nail polish.

*Special THANK YOU to Dolce & Gabbana for providing these fabulous, hot-from-the-Milan-runway beauty tips. Now we can all look like we walked straight off the Milan runway and onto city streets! Love that!

Spring 2013 fashion trends: mod style

Ever since the television show “Mad Men” made its’ debut, Fashionistas everywhere have been influenced by the 1960’s styles worn on the show. For spring 2013, designers were equally influenced by this era; whether from the show or from other sources, the mod look of the 1960’s dominated the runways.

The Mod look was everywhere on the runways in the form of short, swinging hemlines to A-line skirts. The patterns were bold and geometric; taking color blocking into purposeful organization. There were cubes, wide stripes and dizzying prints which took onlookers back to the “Go-Go” days.

The bright color palate combined with the Mod prints has created a modern day 1960’s style which is hitting the streets as we speak. Consumers responded to this runway trend and Fashionistas on the street have been spotted not only wearing the clothing, structured satchels and kitten heels of the era, but wearing <gasp> beehive hairdos! Yes, that is correct! The beehive is making a bee-line for the street, and as shoes go down, hair is going up!

The Mod look is lighthearted and fun; making this a great trend for the uplifting season of spring. As blossoms bloom and flowers attract our eyes, the sun is shining; so why not shine in your wardrobe!

Look for bold stripes, bright colors blocked with white and structured small satchels. This look also does NOT work with platforms. For a true Mod look, seek out a heel height which is 3” or lower; kitten heels are perfect if you don’t mind the short heel. The Mod look can even be worn with flats! There will be some happy feet this season! Love that!

Black and white for spring 2013

Wearing black and white together is a traditional spring trend. Although this trend is common, for spring 2013 it takes on a different look when combined with the current, up-and-coming mod trend.

The mod trend is huge; and something we will discuss next week (teaser!). With black and white being timeless yet perfectly on-trend for spring 2013, this color combo not only plays well with the mod trend’s bold patterns, it plays well with everything! Love that!

Black and white can be found in spring 2013’s popular prints including florals, geometric, ikat, mod, stripes, plaid, checkerboard and more. Black and white can also be found together through color blocking and piping. Everything imaginable is being found in black and white including apparel, shoes, handbags and even jewelry! Fabulous!

Black and white is an easy trend to wear since many of us have this color combination in our closets! If not, this is a great trend to shop for this season since black and white together is a classic combination; and will still be relevant for fall 2013.
