Goodbye 2012 and to all of the trends we are happy to leave behind

Today is the last day of 2012, and as move into 2013, we can cheer and jump for joy because there are a few trends we are happy to say will be “so last year.” So let us take a few moments to say goodbye to the tired trends from 2012, and while we are at it, let us say hello to the new, fabulous trends we are looking forward to in 2013!

Bye-Bye 2012!

Platforms: The sky-high, ankle-breaking platform is over. While there may still be some on store shelves, and from a few designers who didn’t get the memo, tall platforms are done, kaput.

Orange: “Tangerine Tango” was the color of 2012, but this fruity hue has run its’ course. Leave orange for the fruit bowl. Buh-bye.

Gigantic Jewels: Big, over-the-top jewelry is so over. These big baubles do not work well with 2013’s prints. Move them to the back of the jewelry box. Done!

Fascinators: Our fascination with the British Royals’ taste for over-embellished headbands has faded. Store your fascinator for a future Halloween costume when you decide to dress up as a Royal wedding guest.

Hello 2013!

Flat-Soled shoes: The soles of the shoe have come back down to Earth. Now, we will not have to worry about breaking our ankles. Thank the Lord!

Pointed toe shoes: Pointed toe pumps, high heels and flats are HOT for 2013. If your shoes will not hurt someone when you kick them, they are not pointy enough. ‘Nuff said.

Studs: Rocker-Chic is continuing to be huge, and in 2013, designers have gone wild for studs. Look for them on garments, bracelets, shoes, handbags and more. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to rewind that AC/DC cassette tape before you give it back to your BFF

Prints: Prints and patterns, patterns and prints! Look for florals, ikat, stripes, checker boards, plaid, painterly designs and anything you can think of printed on fabric. Be a walking art piece.

Bright colors: Bright colors are still hot in 2013, so stay away from black and look for bright hues in shades of blue, green, yellow, pink and red. Don’t forget to pack your sunglasses, it is going to be a bright year.

Pastels: The yin to the bright color trends’ yang. Soft shades of blue, green, yellow, peach and pink are just right for 2013. This is the Paris look, so brush up on your French. D’accord!

Dainty Jewelry: Sweet charms, thin chains, small earrings and thin bracelets are all the rage in 2013. They can be stacked together for a personal look or worn alone to compliment, not compete with, 2013’s print trend. Kisses!
Have a Happy New Year, stay safe, and of course, stay fabulous

Chanel Sky Line nail polish review

Chanel released a special collection late last summer which included a beautiful, baby blue nail polish hue named “Sky Line.” This beautiful pale yet vibrant shade of blue was lost during August when the fall 2012 colors began to hit store shelves and Fashionistas everywhere flocked towards shades of burgundy, berry, brown, red, purple and dark pink. But now, as we move towards resort 2013 and spring 2013, and pastels are an important color group for the current, winter 2013 season, this beautiful blue nail polish seems like the perfect polish for our fingertips.

Chanel Sky Line nail polish is named appropriately as the blue hue is almost the same shade of blue as a clear sky. The nail polish itself has a slightly dimensional nature which makes it stand out from a regular, baby blue nail polish color.

Light blue nail polish works perfectly with all of winter 2013’spastel hues and also makes an interesting contrast when paired with resort 2013’s neon colors. With Emerald green being the color of 2013, and every shade of blue being hot for spring 2013, Sky Line by Chanel is the perfect transitional nail polish color to wear now, before we are mesmerized by Chanel’s spring 2013 nail polish line.

Sky Line by Chanel applies perfectly in two coats and is chip resistant. This limited edition nail polish color can be found in Chanel Boutiques and also on Chanel’s website at chanel.com.
