Espadrille wedges for the summer beach season

Summer 2012 is here and the beach season has arrived. One of the biggest challenges a Fashionista faces when going to the beach is walking on the sand. If the beach day is planned with beach games, swimming, surfing and play, then shoes are not a huge issue. If the beach day is more of a party event such as a wedding or dinner on the sand, shoes become a huge issue.

Walking on the sand can be a huge challenge; especially if you are dressed up for an event. Sand tends to go inside the shoes and walking seems more difficult than training on the Stairmaster at a high speed. Thankfully the espadrille shoe was invented in the fourteenth century and was originally used for walking on dirt and sand. The natural nature of the espadrille makes it the perfect shoe for walking on sand; therefore the ultimate beach shoe.

Of course, if you are attending an event on the beach, you may want more than just a flat espadrille. Wedges are hot for summer 2012 and so is the espadrille wedge. This trend is a fabulous one since there are enormous amounts of espadrille wedges on the market for the summer 2012 season.

Espadrille wedges for summer 2012 are being found in every style imaginable and for every occasion a Fashionista will attend this summer season. Espadrille wedges are being found on store shelves in metallic leather, bright, colorful fabrics, exotic skins, glitter fabric and patent leather.

The modern version of the espadrille, including espadrille wedges, includes a wax or material sole which allows for the shoe to go from the beach to the street. This makes the espadrille wedge a great shoe for the summer and also for any beach vacation. Love this!

The 4th of July is in a few short days and one of the fun ways to show off patriotism is with a fabulous pair of red, white or blue shoes! In addition to solid colored hues from our flag, shoes can be found in two or even three of our country’s colors.

There are many ways to show off our country’s colors with an amazing pair of shoes. Flats, sandals, pumps and platforms can be found in red, white and blue for our nation’s birthday celebrations. Whether you plan to attend a parade, BBQ or swanky soiree there is a shoe for you!

Dressy wedges for outdoor summer events held on the lawn

Have you ever been to a formal event, held during the summer, outside, on a lawn? How many times have you worn your most fabulous Prada pumps and have found your heels sinking right into the lawn!? Well, it happens to the best of us-all the time! Thankfully, the summer 2012 season has brought out a huge trend in wedges, which in turn, has produced a large amount of formal and dressy wedges which are perfect for wearing to events held on the lawn!

Wedges are ingenious. Their design is perfect for keeping even the most shoe-addicted Fashionista flat on her feet while standing on the lawn-even if the grass is wet! Nothing ruins the party more than spending the entire time standing and walking on tip toe in order to avoid sinking into the lawn. Thankfully the metallic trend and the glittering shoe trend have transformed the traditional “picnic in the park” wedge into something any cocktail dress would be proud to be paired with!

Summer 2012 has brought us gold, silver and rose gold wedges in fabrications and materials such as glitter, sequins, crystals and metal mesh. Wedges have also popped up in more traditional evening fabrics such as satin which give the shoes a classic “with a twist” appeal.

Since there will be at least one summer event every year until the end of time held on the lawn, this is the perfect season to invest in at least one fabulous pair of formal or dressy wedges for that special wedding, fundraiser, fashion show or party held on mushy, wet grass!

When investing in a wedge you plan to keep in your closet for such an occasion, look for a neutral color such as black, white, brown, nude, gold, silver or rose gold. Also look for styles which transcend trends; and try to stay away from platform wedges which are difficult to walk in on hard surfaces.
